Nabire – The Central Papua Regional Police (Polda Papua Tengah) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting national food security through assistance and empowerment programs for farming communities in Nabire Regency. Located in Lagari Jaya Village, Makimi District, on Saturday (May 16, 2026), personnel from the Central Papua Regional Police together with local farmer groups conducted the second quarter corn harvest of 2026, producing approximately 4 tons of corn.
The harvest was led directly by the Inspector of Supervision of the Central Papua Regional Police, Police Commissioner Gatot Suprasetya, and attended by senior officials of the Central Papua Regional Police as well as local Forkopimda representatives. The activity symbolized strong collaboration between security personnel and the community in utilizing productive land sustainably to support local food needs.
In his remarks, Police Commissioner Gatot Suprasetya emphasized that the success of food security programs cannot be achieved without cooperation from all elements of society. According to him, the synergy established between the police, local government, and farmer groups is an important foundation for improving community welfare while maintaining regional food stability.
“This harvest proves that togetherness and the spirit of mutual cooperation can produce tangible benefits for the community. We hope activities like this will continue to grow and provide long-term benefits for farmers,” he stated.
The approximately one-hectare cornfield serves as an example of sustainable productive land management. In addition to supporting local food availability, the program also creates opportunities to improve the local economy through the agricultural sector.
Representative of the Madu Lagari Jaya Farmer Group, Tambir, expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the Central Papua Regional Police, ranging from the provision of seeds and fertilizers to assistance in marketing the harvested crops.
He also expressed hope that such support would continue, particularly in helping provide agricultural equipment such as mini tractors, sprayers, corn shellers, and other farming tools to ease post-harvest processing and improve farmers’ productivity.
“We are truly grateful for the assistance and guidance provided. We hope that in the future, support for agricultural equipment can also be realized so that community farming productivity can continue to improve,” Tambir said.
Through this initiative, the Central Papua Regional Police is not only present to maintain security and public order but also actively contributes to community empowerment through productive and sustainable agricultural programs.
