Wamena – Member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) Commission III, Irianto Kogoya, emphasized that the celebration of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah should serve as a momentum to strengthen tolerance and harmony among religious communities in Papua Highlands.
According to him, the people of Papua Highlands have long demonstrated strong values of tolerance through the active role of community leaders, religious figures, and traditional leaders in maintaining harmony amid diversity.
He stated that the spirit of brotherhood and mutual respect must continue to be preserved to ensure peace, security, and social harmony remain well maintained, both in urban areas and villages. In addition, interfaith harmony is considered an important factor in supporting development progress in Papua Highlands.
“This Eid al-Adha momentum should reinforce solidarity and togetherness among the people of Papua Highlands. By maintaining tolerance and harmony, development and peace in this region can continue to progress well,” said Irianto Kogoya.
He also invited all communities to put aside differences and strengthen unity in order to create peace and shared prosperity.
“We are all brothers and sisters. Let us work together to keep Papua Highlands safe, peaceful, and full of mutual respect among religions, ethnic groups, and communities,” he added.
As a form of social concern in welcoming Eid al-Adha, Irianto Kogoya also donated one sacrificial cow to the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Wamena and distributed 50 prayer equipment packages to Al Ikhlas Mosque in Holima, Napua District, Jayawijaya Regency.
