Puncak Jaya, Papua – Cartenz-2026 Peace Operation Task Force personnel in the Puncak Jaya sector succeeded in paralyzing a member of the Armed Criminal Group , with the initials O.E. alias M.E., in Wuyukwi Village, Monday (4/2026) around 16.15 WIT.
O.E. is known to be included in the Wanted List based on Letter Number: DPO/S-34/04/IV/2024/Reskrim dated April 25, 2024, related to the shooting case that resulted in the death of the Elang Task Force personnel, Sertu Anumerta Ismunandar, on March 17, 2024 in Kulirik Village, Muara District.
Responding to this matter, the Head of Public Relations of the Cartenz Peace Operation 2026, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., when met by the media (21/4), explained that this action was carried out through a measurable process based on the results of monitoring in the field.
“The action was carried out after the personnel carried out monitoring and successfully identified the location of the target. When it was about to be secured, the person concerned tried to escape by fighting the officer, so firm and measured action was taken according to the procedure,” he said.
The action is part of the law enforcement efforts against the perpetrators of armed violence that have been disrupting security stability in the Puncak Jaya area.
The action was taken after the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force team carried out monitoring and successfully identified the location of the target in Wuyukwi Village. During the arrest process, the perpetrator tried to escape by fighting the officers, so that the officers took firm and measured action according to the procedure which caused O.E. to have a gunshot wound in the right armpit through the right back of the body.
Then the perpetrator was successfully secured and immediately evacuated to RSUD Mulia for medical treatment, but was declared dead at 17.30 WIT.
Regarding the results of the enforcement, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo emphasized that the steps taken are part of law enforcement against perpetrators of armed violence.
“The perpetrator was successfully paralyzed and had received medical treatment, but was declared dead. This crackdown is part of law enforcement efforts against armed groups that disrupt security stability,” he explained.
It should be noted that previously on November 27, 2024, O.E. had been secured by the Cartenz Peace Task Force in the same case, but the person concerned escaped when the situation in the field was focusing on handling the tribal war conflict in the Puncak Jaya area.
In response to this matter, the Head of Public Relations added that the apparatus continued to evaluate and strengthen security in each case handling.
“Indeed, the person concerned had been secured before, but managed to escape when the conflict handling situation took place. In the future, we will continue to strengthen security and procedures so that similar incidents do not happen again,” he said.
Head of Cartenz-2026 Peace Operation, Inspector General of Police. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., emphasized that this success is a form of commitment of the apparatus in taking firm action against the perpetrators of armed crimes.
“This action against Wanted List shows our seriousness in maintaining security and providing protection to the community. We will process every perpetrator of violence professionally according to the applicable law,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Peace Operations Cartenz-2026, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., appealed to the public to remain calm and not easily influenced by information that has not been verified. He also emphasized the importance of community participation in maintaining the kamtibmas situation to remain safe and conducive.
“We invite all the public to remain calm and continue to support the officers by providing accurate information. Community participation is very important in maintaining regional security,” he said.
The Cartenz Peace Task Force appealed to the public to remain calm, not provoked by incorrect information, and to play an active role in providing information to the authorities. The task force will continue to increase patrols and law enforcement professionally, as well as strengthen synergy with the community as part of the efforts to keep kamtibmas safe and conducive.
