Jayapura — The Papua Provincial Government has called on Bank Indonesia (BI) to further strengthen inclusive economic growth across the region, ensuring that development benefits are distributed more evenly among all segments of society.
The call was conveyed during a coordination meeting between the provincial government and BI held in Jayapura. In the forum, the government emphasized the importance of policy synergy to ensure that economic growth is not concentrated solely in urban areas, but also reaches remote regions and underserved communities.
The Papua Provincial Government highlighted several strategic measures to advance inclusive growth, including expanding access to financial services, strengthening micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and accelerating the digitalization of payment systems. In addition, maintaining regional price stability through coordination within the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) was underscored as a key factor in safeguarding economic stability.
Meanwhile, BI reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing coordination with local governments to support sustainable regional economic development. The central bank also aims to promote financial literacy and encourage the use of local products to help maintain purchasing power and strengthen the regional economy.
Through sustained collaboration between the Papua Provincial Government and BI, economic growth in Papua is expected not only to improve quantitatively, but also to become more inclusive, equitable, and capable of enhancing overall public welfare.
