Jayapura – Papuan religious leader, Rev. Johan Godlief Nussy, M.Th, expressed his appreciation for the humanistic approach taken by the Carstensz Peace Operation Task Force in maintaining security and public order in Papua.
According to Rev. Johan, the Carstensz Peace Operation Task Force not only carries out regional security duties but also actively builds rapport with the community through various social and educational activities.
“I find the Carstensz Peace Task Force very friendly towards the community. Usually, there’s a sense of distance between the community and the authorities, but I see something different about this Task Force,” said Johan in Jayapura on Monday, May 25, 2026.
He believes the approach taken by the Task Force personnel has been able to create better relationships with the community, especially through activities that directly address the needs of residents.
In addition to ensuring the security situation in several regions of Papua remains conducive, the Carstensz Peace Operation Task Force is also considered active in educating the younger generation about the dangers of drugs, moral development, and the importance of community life.
According to him, Task Force personnel also carry out various social activities, such as visiting orphanages, church communities, and Islamic boarding schools to provide assistance and education to children and adolescents.
“Not only that, they also carry out health activities and various other social activities that are very helpful to the community,” he said.
Johan said the humanitarian measures taken by the Task Force are an important part of closing the gap between security forces and the Papuan people.
He hopes the social and humanitarian activities carried out by the Carstensz Peace Operation Task Force will continue to support the creation of a safe and peaceful Papua.
“We hope Papua will become a land of peace for everyone. Therefore, we express our appreciation to the Carstensz Peace Operation Task Force, which, in addition to maintaining security, is also present among the community with humanitarian activities,” he said.
He added that synergy between security forces, religious leaders, and the community is considered important in maintaining security stability and supporting development in Papua.
