NABIRE – The May 1 commemoration in Nabire Regency, Central Papua, was held safely, orderly, and in a spirit of togetherness. Coinciding with Labor Day and the anniversary of Papua’s integration into the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), various community activities proceeded smoothly under integrated security measures by joint personnel.
Since the morning, joint personnel from the Police and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) were deployed at several strategic locations to ensure all community events ran in a conducive atmosphere. Their presence aimed to provide a sense of security while maintaining the smooth flow of activities in the city center and surrounding event areas.
One of the main agendas of the occasion was a joint assembly and city parade attended by various elements of the community. The event was carried out in an orderly manner and was enthusiastically welcomed by residents along the parade route.
In addition to conveying messages of unity and nationalism, participants also distributed Red and White flags to the public as a symbol of togetherness and love for the nation. The atmosphere was peaceful, spirited, and received a positive response from the people of Nabire.
Nabire Police Chief, Samuel D. Tatiratu, stated that security personnel remain committed to maintaining stability so the public can carry out all activities comfortably.
“We ensured that the entire series of activities was conducted safely, orderly, and peacefully. The synergy of all parties is the key to maintaining stability in Nabire,” he said.
He also invited the community to continue preserving unity and to work together in creating a peaceful environment in the capital of Central Papua Province.
Meanwhile, social activities also marked the May 1 commemoration through the distribution of assistance packages to the public. This initiative reflected social concern while strengthening ties among community members.
Community leaders who attended stated that the May 1 momentum was not only a historical commemoration, but also an opportunity for collective reflection to maintain security and encourage regional development.
