Mimika, Central Papua — During his 12 years of service in the coastal area of Pomako, Timika, Sofyan Hadi, S.Pd., Gr., has demonstrated consistent dedication as an educator and a catalyst for social change in an area with limited access to basic services. As the Principal of Pomako 1 Elementary School, he not only fulfills his formal role as a teacher but also actively builds community awareness of the importance of education as a foundation for the future.
Despite limited facilities and infrastructure, Sofyan maintains a continuous teaching and learning process. He also maintains intensive communication with parents and the surrounding community to encourage educational participation and shape the mindsets of the younger generation in the coastal area. His role has evolved into a central figure who not only transfers knowledge but also brings about real social change within the community.
According to him, education is the key to opening access to the future, especially for children in marginalized areas who have traditionally faced various limitations. His presence in Pomako demonstrates the strategic role of teachers in human development, even in areas far from the center of attention.
More broadly, Sofyan Hadi also expressed his appreciation for efforts to maintain security and stability in Papua through a humanistic approach. He assessed that the steps taken in the 2026 Carstensz Peace Operation demonstrated a balance between law enforcement and a persuasive approach to the community.
“As an educator, I appreciate the implementation of the 2026 Carstensz Peace Operation, which prioritizes a persuasive and humanistic approach. This is evident in various positive activities such as social visits, routine patrols in vulnerable areas, and health services to the community. This approach demonstrates that the presence of officers is not solely focused on law enforcement, but also on building closeness and trust with the community,” he said.
He also expressed his support for efforts to maintain stability in Papua, which are carried out professionally and in a measured manner, including through dialogue patrols and good communication with the community.
Furthermore, Sofyan urged all elements of society to work together to maintain security and not be easily influenced by unverified information.
“I urge all Papuans to work together to maintain public order and security, ensuring a safe and peaceful environment, and to refrain from being easily provoked by unsubstantiated rumors. Let us join hands to continue building and advancing education in Papua, especially for the younger generation in Timika, for a better future,” he added.
Sofyan Hadi’s dedication on the Pomako coast reflects that Papua’s development relies not only on security aspects, but also on strengthening the education sector as the primary foundation for creating a superior and competitive generation.
