Puncak Jaya – The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Central Papua took a quick step in responding to the impact of armed social conflict that occurred in the Puncak Regency region. On Thursday (4/23/2026), logistical assistance with an integrated cross-sector team was officially sent to Mulia, Puncak Jaya Regency, to help the affected residents.
This aid delivery is a follow-up to Puncak Regent Decree Number 300.2.1/48/Year 2026 regarding the establishment of emergency response status due to armed conflicts that occurred in Kembru District and Pogoma District. The conflict has triggered a wave of refugees to a number of areas that are considered safer, including Sinak District (Punak Regency) and Mulia District (Pinkk Jaya Regency).
In a comprehensive handling effort, the Central Papua Provincial Government formed an Integrated Team involving various agencies, such as the Social Service, BPBD and Fire Department, the Health Service, and the Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Service. This team is in charge of ensuring that all the basic needs of the refugees can be met quickly, accurately, and coordinated.
The Head of the Social Service of Central Papua Province, Roni Misikmbo, said that the main focus of the current handling is the safety and recovery of the condition of the victims, especially those who are injured.
“Our treatment prioritizes victims who need medical treatment. Currently they are being treated in several health facilities in Mulia, Sinak, Nabire, to Jayapura,” he said.
In addition to medical treatment, attention is also given to the psychosocial aspect. The team from the Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Service also provides assistance to refugees, especially women and children who are vulnerable to trauma due to conflict.
This integrated step shows the seriousness of the government in ensuring that all affected victims receive adequate protection and services, both in terms of health, logistics needs, and psychological recovery.
With cross-sector synergy that continues to be strengthened, it is hoped that the condition of the refugees can soon recover and the situation in the conflict-affected area will gradually be conducive again.
