NABIRE – The Nabire Regency Government has taken firm steps to strengthen the discipline of civil servants (ASN) as a primary effort to improve personnel administration and enhance bureaucratic performance. This was emphasized by Nabire Regent Mesak Magai during his address in Nabire on Wednesday.
Regent Mesak Magai stressed that discipline is the fundamental pillar in managing ASN, covering compliance with regulations, administrative orderliness, and responsibility in carrying out duties. To support this, supervision of all regional government organizations (OPD) is being tightened, alongside improvements in the performance of the Regional Civil Service and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM).
“I have taken firm measures to ensure that all OPDs and ASNs work in accordance with regulations and are accountable for their duties,” he stated.
According to him, BKPSDM plays a crucial role in maintaining orderly ASN management, from transfers and promotions to job placements. Therefore, every process must be conducted with discipline, transparency, and in line with regulations to prevent administrative issues such as data discrepancies that could hinder employees’ rights.
The Regent emphasized that all position appointments must be based on rank, grade, and competence, not on considerations outside the established rules. He also warned that administrative negligence constitutes a disciplinary violation that will not be tolerated.
Discipline enforcement will also be carried out through strict sanctions. ASN who fail to perform their duties in accordance with regulations will face consequences, ranging from salary suspension to dismissal for those absent for 10 consecutive days without valid reason.
“Discipline is the key. ASN must comply with regulations and leadership directives. There is no compromise for violations,” he asserted.
In addition, all OPDs are required to conduct regular performance evaluations and improve internal transparency, including in the management of budget implementation documents (DPA), to ensure effective and accountable governance.
Currently, the number of ASN in Nabire Regency exceeds 6,000. In April 2026, a total of 92 ASN received promotions, while several others entered retirement, adjusted their educational qualifications, and passed official service examinations.
Through consistent enforcement of discipline, the Nabire Regency Government aims to build an orderly, professional bureaucracy capable of delivering optimal public services.
