Wamena – Member of Commission III of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI), Irianto Kogoya, stated that Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah is an event that strengthens the values of tolerance in the Papua Highlands region.
“In Papua Highlands, the values of tolerance between religious communities are extraordinary, and therefore, the momentum of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah must be further strengthened to maintain interfaith harmony,” he said in Wamena on Wednesday.
According to him, the role of community, religious, and traditional leaders in maintaining the values of tolerance in Papua Highlands is crucial, thus creating a harmonious and harmonious life in this region.
“We acknowledge the extraordinary role of community leaders and traditional church leaders in maintaining the values of tolerance in Papua Highlands, and this must be protected and maintained,” he said.
He emphasized that on Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri, religious harmony must be maintained to foster positive communication and accelerate development in Highland Papua.
“Religious harmony must continue to be preserved in both urban and rural areas in Highland Papua so that communication between the people in this region can be harmonious,” he said.
He added that the key to peace is for all Indonesians, especially in Highland Papua, to maintain tolerance and harmony across religions, ethnicities, races, and social groups.
“We hope that all people in Highland Papua will put aside their differences and strengthen bonds of brotherhood so that peace, tranquility, and development continue to thrive in this region,” he said.
Member of Commission III of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI), Irianto Kogoya, distributed social assistance in the form of one sacrificial animal at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Wamena and 50 packages of prayer equipment at the Al Ikhlas Holima Mosque in Napua District, Jayawijaya Regency, Highland Papua.
