The Provincial Government of Papua Pegunungan continues to facilitate the resolution of inter-tribal conflicts occurring in several areas by prioritizing dialogue, customary law, and social reconciliation in an effort to maintain public security and stability.
The efforts are being carried out through coordination with traditional leaders, religious figures, local regency governments, as well as the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) to encourage peace and prevent retaliatory actions among communities.
In addition to strengthening peaceful mediation, the provincial government is also preparing regional regulations as a legal framework for handling social conflicts based on Papuan local wisdom. The regulations are expected to serve as guidelines for resolving customary disputes in a fair, measured, and effective manner.
Governor of Papua Pegunungan, John Tabo, emphasized that the regional government is fully committed to creating peace and ending inter-tribal conflicts that have affected community life.
“The government is here to facilitate peace. We urge all communities to exercise restraint, prioritize customary dialogue, and work together to maintain security for a peaceful and prosperous Papua Pegunungan,” said John Tabo.
He also stressed that social conflicts not only result in casualties but also hinder education, economic activities, and regional development.
The Papua Pegunungan Provincial Government hopes that all parties will support the ongoing reconciliation efforts so that public security and order can return to normal and community activities can resume safely.
