Wamena – The Papua Pegunungan Provincial Government continues to strengthen the education sector by focusing on character building from an early age. The initiative aims to create a young generation of Papuans who are disciplined, have integrity, and are able to compete in the future.
Through the Department of Education and Culture, the provincial government has begun developing a character-based school concept for kindergarten children in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency. The program is part of the regional government’s commitment to improving the quality of human resources starting from basic education.
Acting Head of the Papua Pegunungan Education and Culture Office, Simon Sembor, said that character education must be instilled from an early age so that children develop discipline, responsibility, and a strong learning spirit to face the future.
“Character education is an important foundation in shaping a high-quality and competitive young generation in Papua Pegunungan. Therefore, guidance and character building must begin at an early age,” said Simon Sembor.
He added that the character-based education program is also part of the regional government’s efforts to prepare superior human resources capable of supporting the future development of Papua Pegunungan.
In addition, the regional government continues to strengthen the role of Early Childhood Education (PAUD) coordinators across the eight regencies to support the optimization of early childhood education comprehensively.
The Papua Pegunungan Provincial Government hopes that strengthening character-based education will become a strong foundation for creating an intelligent, independent, and productive young generation that can contribute positively to regional development in the future.
