Bintang Mountains Traditional Leader Urges Residents to Unite in Maintaining Peace in Papua

Jayapura – A traditional leader from Bintang Mountains Regency has called on the community to work together in maintaining security and public order to ensure a safe and conducive situation across the Papua Highlands region.

The appeal was delivered as a reflection of the growing importance of security stability in supporting daily community activities, public services, and regional development.

Bintang Mountains traditional leader Yanuarius emphasized that maintaining peace is a shared responsibility among all elements of society. He also urged residents not to be easily influenced by unverified information or issues that could trigger unrest within the community.

“People must continue to maintain unity and not easily believe information whose truth is uncertain. Let us work together to maintain security for a safe and peaceful future for Bintang Mountains,” he said.

He further stated that any disputes or social issues within the community should be resolved through customary approaches, communication, and deliberation in order to prevent potential conflicts from escalating.

Yanuarius also encouraged the public to use social media wisely and refrain from spreading provocative information that could disrupt security and create division among residents.

According to him, maintaining a peaceful and secure public order situation is not solely the responsibility of security forces, but also requires active support from traditional leaders, religious leaders, youth figures, and the wider community.

Through strong cooperation and synergy among all parties, he expressed hope that the security situation in Bintang Mountains Regency would remain stable, allowing residents to carry out their activities safely, peacefully, and comfortably.
