Yahukimo – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has asked the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to work together to ensure security in Yahukimo Regency, Papua, in the mountainous region, to ensure the smooth implementation of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programs and to ensure the direct benefit of local residents.
During a dialogue with the families of TNI soldiers at the 1715/06 Dekai Military Command (Koramil), Yahukimo, on Tuesday, Vice President Gibran expressed his appreciation for the TNI and Polri’s efforts in maintaining security in the conflict-prone area.
“I ask the TNI and Polri to thank you for your hard work. I truly want the situation to be safe. I have no vested interests whatsoever. I simply want to implement all of the President’s priority programs, and ultimately, the residents will benefit,” Gibran said.
Gibran emphasized that his visit to Yahukimo was not motivated by any other interests.
The former Mayor of Solo admitted that he only wanted to carry out President Prabowo Subianto’s orders so that priority programs, such as the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), Free Health Checks (CKG), the provision of subsidized housing for the public, and the Red and White Village Cooperative, could reach residents of Yahukimo.
However, Gibran emphasized that all government programs can run optimally if the situation in Yahukimo is guaranteed safe.
“If Yahukimo and its surroundings are guaranteed safe, we can automatically bring the President’s programs here: MBG, CKG, public housing, cooperatives; there are so many programs that can be promoted here,” Gibran said.
During the event, the Vice President also appreciated the efforts of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) who provided security during his working visit to Yahukimo.
As is known, Yahukimo Regency is an area prone to security disturbances due to the presence of armed criminal groups (KKB).
The Vice President’s presence in Yahukimo aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive, which emphasizes the importance of security stability as the main foundation for accelerating development and ensuring equitable distribution of government programs, even to remote areas.
During his three-hour visit to Yahukimo, Gibran reviewed the implementation of the MBG (Community Empowerment Program) at the Yahukimo Christian School, the health facilities at the Dekai Regional Hospital, and held a dialogue with members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) at the 1715/06 Dekai Military District Command (Koramil), which serves as the headquarters for Marine Battalion 5 and the Taipur/Timsus 303, which secures the Yahukimo region.
During his visit to Yahukimo, Gibran was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Papua’s Special Autonomy Development Velix Wanggai, and Deputy Governor of Papua Pegunungan Ones Pahabol.
