DPR Papua Distributes Humanitarian Aid for Flood Victims in North Sumatra

North Sumatra – The Papuan People’s Representative Council (DPR) carried out a humanitarian visit entitled “DPR Papua Peduli Kasih” to the flood victims in North Sumatra. This activity was carried out in line with the spirit of the December 25 Christmas celebration which was full of messages of love, care, and solidarity towards each other, on Saturday (12/27/2025).

The humanitarian visit was centered at the HKBP Lobupining Church Evacation Location, which is located in Dolok Nauli, Adian Koting District, North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra. The presence of the DPR Papua group was warmly welcomed by the local community who were affected by the flood disaster.

The Papuan House of Representatives delegation is led directly by the Chairman of Commission I of the Papuan House of Representatives, Tan Wilong, accompanied by Member of Commission II of the Papuan House of Representatives, Johanes Markus Wakum, Secretary of the Papuan House of Representatives, Juliana Waromi, as well as staff and experts of the Papuan House of Representatives.

On that occasion, the Papuan House of Representatives handed over various forms of assistance, including staple food, wearable clothing, and cash assistance that was handed over directly to the refugees. This assistance is expected to help meet the basic needs of the people affected by the flood and still in the evacuation location.

Chairman of Commission I DPR Papua, Tan Wilong, said that the assistance is a form of concern and empathy of the Papuan DPR towards fellow children of the nation who are being hit by disasters.

“We hope this assistance can ease the burden of our brothers and sisters who are currently still struggling to restore their daily living conditions after the flood disaster,” said Tan Wilong.

He added, this humanitarian activity becomes a real reflection of Christmas values that teach love, solidarity, and hope. According to him, the spirit of sharing and supporting each other must continue to be maintained, regardless of regional or background differences.

Through the activities of the Papua House of Representatives Peduli Kasih, the Papuan House of Representatives hopes to grow the spirit of togetherness and strengthen the brotherhood between fellow children of the nation, as well as providing moral support for the flood victims to remain strong and optimistic in facing the recovery period.
