Jayapura – On Friday, May 10 2024, at around 14.30 WIT, gunfire was reported to have occurred in Pogapa village, Homeyo District, Intan Jaya Regency between TNI-Polri Security Forces and the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
Head of the Cartenz Peace Ops Public Relations Task Force, AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno, when asked for information, explained the incident that occurred.
He said, at around 14.15 WIT, personnel received information from the network in the field that the KKB would carry out an attack on the Sector Police and Koramil, at which time the KKB was already in the vicinity of Pogapa Village.
“At 14.20 WIT, the Nanggala Task Force and the Belukar Ops Damai Cartenz Task Force carried out surveillance and monitored several KKB members who were preparing to attack the Sector Police and Koramil,” said Bayu.
“At 14.25 WIT, the team fired shots at the KKB position which then responded with direct fire contact,” he continued.
According to the Head of the Public Relations Task Force, the gun battle lasted until 15.25 WIT, at which time no more sounds of gunshots were heard from either the TNI-Polri or KKB.
Luckily, in this incident there were no casualties from the security forces.
“Currently, all levels of security forces, both TNI and Polri, are still on alert, continuing to monitor every movement of the KKB,” concluded Head of the Public Relations Task Force for OPS Damai Cartenz AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno.
