KKB Shoots Plane at Aminggaru Airport, Puncak, Central Papua

Ilaga – The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) is at it again. They again disrupted aviation activities in Papua by shooting five times at planes that were about to land at Aminggaru Airport, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency.

Puncak Police Chief Commissioner I Nyoman Punia said the incident occurred on Friday, February 23 2024 at around 09.30 WIT from the direction of Bukit Ular. TNI-Polri officers immediately carried out a search, but the group had fled.

“From the information we received, there were no casualties in this action,” said Nyoman in a written statement, Saturday, February 24 2024.

Apart from that, Nyoman said that the police were still coordinating with the airport and other related agencies. One of them is about the losses from the incident.

“We also don’t know what type of airline or aircraft was the target,” said the Police Chief.

Nyoman said airport activities were stopped following the incident. In order to prevent worse incidents from happening. Even so, community activities around the airport and in Ilaga City will certainly continue to run smoothly as usual.

“TNI-Polri personnel are still on standby around the airport and vulnerable points around Ilaga District to anticipate possible further action from this group, and we are increasing Joint TNI-Polri Patrol activities to maintain a safe and peaceful situation in Puncak Regency,” he concluded .

Previously, KKB also shot down two planes on Friday, February 16 2024 and Saturday, February 17 2024. The two planes were Wings Air IW-1646 at Nop Goliat Dekai Airport, Yahukimo Regency and Asian One Air with the PK-LTF series at Milawak Airport, Beoga District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua.
