Jayapura – The Puncak Resort Police is currently investigating the fire case that destroyed two houses of residents named Daniel Emba and Pdt. Loas Kogoya in the shower of Kibologome Village, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Saturday (20/05) at around 15.30 WIT.
This was also confirmed by the Head of the Papua Police Public Relations Division Kombes Pol. Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom when questioned.
The Head of Public Relations said the fire started when people saw black smoke in the fire area.
“Witnesses who saw the incident reported to the Ilaga Police picket,” explained the Head of Public Relations.
Upon receiving reports of the fire, personnel from the Ilaga Police led by the Ilaga Criminal Investigation Unit, Ipda M.Mara, immediately headed to the TKP.
“After 1 hour, the fire was extinguished because there were no light fire extinguishers (APAR) and fire trucks,” said the Head of Public Relations.
Kombes Benny said there were no casualties in the incident and the material loss was estimated at around Rp. 300,000,000,- (Three hundred million rupiah).
“Currently the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Puncak Police is still conducting an investigation by collecting evidence and asking for statements from witnesses to determine the cause of the fire,” concluded Kombes Benny.
