Nabire – Central Papua Governor Meki Nawipa is pushing for accelerated development in Papua by strengthening synergy between the central government, provincial government, and district/city governments to achieve equitable and sustainable development.
According to Meki, collaboration across levels of government is key to accelerating the completion of various priority programs, particularly infrastructure development, improving public services, developing human resources, and strengthening the economy of communities in Central Papua and Papua in general.
He stated that Papua’s development cannot be carried out in isolation but requires strong support and coordination between the central and regional governments to ensure each program runs effectively and meets the needs of the community on the ground.
The Governor explained that various ongoing strategic agendas, including the development of the Central Papua Provincial Government Center in Nabire, are part of efforts to improve governance and accelerate public services. The development project for this government area is currently progressing and is a regional development priority.
In addition to infrastructure development, Meki emphasized the importance of integrated development planning aligned with national policies. According to him, all stakeholders need to ensure that the development programs designed truly have a direct impact on improving public welfare, particularly in the education, health, and people’s economic sectors.
The central government itself continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting accelerated development in Papua through various strategic programs and intensive coordination with regional governments. This support includes basic infrastructure development, improving inter-regional connectivity, and strengthening public services as part of efforts to achieve equitable development in Papua. The Governor hopes that stronger synergy between the central and regional governments will accelerate the realization of a developed, prosperous, and competitive Papua, while ensuring that the benefits of development are felt evenly, even in remote areas.
