Nduga, Papua Mountains – The footsteps of personnel from the Cartenz-2026 Peace Operation Task Force as they walked the streets of Kenyam District, Nduga Regency, on Saturday (August 1, 2026) were more than just routine patrols. Behind each step was an effort to build rapport, greet the community, listen to their stories, and ensure a true sense of security in their daily lives.
The dialogue patrols were conducted around the GKI Sion Church and throughout residential areas. Along the way, personnel not only monitored the security situation but also stopped to chat with residents, greet children, and listen to their various concerns regarding the condition of their environment.
A warm atmosphere was evident as residents greeted the personnel with smiles and greetings. Simple conversations on the roadside, the laughter of approaching children, and lighthearted dialogues with community leaders demonstrated that the presence of security personnel was not only felt as protectors, but also as friends present in the community.
A Kenyam resident, who declined to be named, expressed his satisfaction with the approach taken by the Carstensz-2026 Peace Operation Task Force personnel.
“We are pleased that the police officers often come to greet and speak directly with the community. They don’t just pass by, but stop, listen to our stories, and ask about the community’s well-being. Their presence makes us feel calmer and closer to the officers. We hope this good relationship will continue,” he said.
The Head of the Carstensz-2026 Peace Operation, Inspector General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., said that building community trust is a crucial part of efforts to maintain sustainable security.
“Security is not only built through the presence of personnel, but also through good relationships with the community. Therefore, we continue to encourage all personnel to be present in a humane manner, engage in dialogue, listen to residents’ aspirations, and be part of the solution to the various problems faced by the community. When trust grows, security stability will also be strengthened,” said the Operations Chief.
Similarly, the Deputy Chief of the Carstensz-2026 Peace Operation, Senior Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that dialogic patrols will continue to be part of the preventive approach prioritized in the implementation of the Carstensz Peace Operation.
“We want every personnel to be present not only as law enforcement officers, but also as community partners. Through foot patrols, personnel can interact directly, understand community conditions, and build closer communication. This closeness is the foundation for creating a sense of security and strengthening synergy between the National Police and the community,” said the Deputy Chief of Operations.
This humanistic patrol is proof that maintaining security is not always achieved through repressive actions, but also through a sincere presence, warm communication, and concern for the community. The small steps taken by the Carstensz-2026 Peace Operation Task Force personnel in greeting, listening to, and walking with residents have created a greater sense of security and strengthened the bond of trust between the National Police and the community in Kenyam.
