Papuan Tribal Leader Urges Community to Safeguard Security for Education and Development

Puncak, Central Papua – A tribal leader in Indonesia’s Central Papua Province has called on local residents to work together to maintain peace and security, describing stability as a key requirement for improving education and accelerating development in Puncak Regency.

Antenus Yolemal, Chief of the Damal Tribe in Puncak Regency, delivered the message during a community outreach meeting with residents of Kibogolome Village at Kelabo Restaurant on Thursday.

Addressing community members, Yolemal said years of security-related challenges have slowed progress in several sectors, including education, economic development, and public infrastructure.

“Security is the foundation of development. Without a peaceful environment, it is difficult for communities to fully benefit from education, economic growth, and government development programs,” he said.

Yolemal encouraged residents to take an active role in preserving harmony within their communities, emphasizing that a stable security environment would allow children to attend school safely and pursue better educational opportunities.

He also stressed that investing in the younger generation is essential to the long-term future of Puncak Regency, adding that today’s students will become the leaders and professionals responsible for advancing the region in the years ahead. The tribal leader expressed hope that all elements of society would continue strengthening unity and cooperation to create a peaceful and orderly environment, enabling development initiatives to move forward and deliver tangible benefits for local communities.
