Mimika, Indonesia – A youth leader in Tembagapura, Central Papua, has expressed support for the continued implementation of the Honai Belajar (Learning Honai) program, saying the initiative has provided meaningful educational opportunities for children in Waa Banti Village.
Deni Tabuni, a community youth leader from Tembagapura, said the program has become an important source of supplementary learning by offering children a place to study outside regular school hours. He noted that the initiative helps students maintain their enthusiasm for learning while encouraging them to continue pursuing their education.
“I am grateful for the Honai Education Program in Tembagapura, which has encouraged our children to continue learning and stay in school,” Tabuni said.
For many families in Waa Banti Village, the Honai Belajar program has become a valuable educational activity by providing regular learning assistance for children. Beyond reinforcing classroom lessons, the initiative offers additional opportunities for students to strengthen basic literacy and numeracy skills in a supportive community environment.
Tabuni expressed hope that the program would continue in the years ahead so that more children could benefit from sustained educational guidance. He also said that community-based initiatives addressing local needs could further strengthen public trust in the Indonesian National Police.
“I hope positive initiatives like this will continue in the future. I also hope the Indonesian National Police will continue to earn the trust of communities, both in Papua and across Indonesia,” he said.
The Honai Belajar program is one of the community engagement initiatives carried out by the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2026 in collaboration with the Tembagapura Sector Police. Through regular sessions in reading, writing, and mathematics, the program aims to support children’s education while fostering constructive engagement between police personnel and local communities.
