NABIRE – The Central Papua Regional Police (Polda Papua Tengah) have reaffirmed their commitment to youth development through sports by sending SSB Amungsa FC to represent Central Papua Province at the U-12 President’s Cup, which will be held in Yogyakarta from July 6–11, 2026.
A total of 12 promising young players have been selected to compete in the national tournament following a comprehensive talent identification and development program. Their participation is expected to mark an important step in nurturing the next generation of footballers capable of competing at the national level.
Central Papua Police Chief Brigadier General Jermias Rontini said that the support provided to SSB Amungsa FC reflects the police’s commitment to fostering character, sportsmanship, and the development of young Papuan talent through grassroots football.
He encouraged the players to perform to the best of their abilities throughout the tournament while upholding discipline, teamwork, and the spirit of fair play.
“Show your very best on the field. Compete with passion, discipline, and the highest level of sportsmanship. Make this opportunity a valuable learning experience and a source of pride for Central Papua,” the Police Chief said.
According to him, the U-12 President’s Cup is not only a competitive tournament but also an important platform for young athletes to showcase their talent before football academies, scouts, and professional clubs.
He also called on the people of Central Papua to offer their prayers and full support so that the team can achieve outstanding results and proudly represent the province on the national stage.
Meanwhile, SSB Amungsa FC Manager Irfan Irianto explained that the team officially earned the right to represent Central Papua after being nominated by the Central Papua Provincial Football Association (Asprov PSSI Papua Tengah) and registered with the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) for the U-12 President’s Cup.
He noted that the squad was formed through an extensive talent scouting process conducted during the Central Papua Police Chief Mini Soccer Cup I, II, and III tournaments, which were held in Mimika Regency.
“From the very beginning, the Police Chief was committed to providing Central Papua’s best young footballers with the opportunity to compete at the national level. Through the talent scouting process during the Kapolda Cup tournaments, we successfully assembled this SSB Amungsa FC squad to represent our province,” Irfan explained.
He expressed confidence that the players would be able to compete against top teams from across Indonesia while gaining valuable experience that would contribute to their long-term football development.
