Jayapura – PT PLN (Persero) Main Distribution Unit (UIW) for Papua and West Papua has emphasized that scheduled power outages are a preventive measure to maintain the reliability of the electricity supply and reduce the risk of unexpected power disruptions.
General Manager of PT PLN (Persero) UIW Papua and West Papua, Roberth Rumsaur, explained that the planned outages are part of routine maintenance and efforts to improve the quality of the power infrastructure. The activities include network inspections, replacement of aging equipment, and maintenance of critical electrical components to ensure the system operates safely and efficiently.
“Scheduled maintenance is carried out to maintain the reliability of the electricity system. Through these preventive measures, we aim to minimize the risk of unexpected outages and ensure uninterrupted service for the public,” Roberth said.
PLN also ensures that customers are informed in advance about scheduled maintenance through its official communication channels, including the PLN Mobile application and the company’s official social media platforms. This allows customers to make necessary preparations and adjust their activities during the maintenance period.
Furthermore, PLN is committed to completing maintenance work as efficiently as possible. If the work is finished ahead of schedule, electricity service will be restored immediately without waiting for the announced completion time.
In addition to routine maintenance, PLN continues to strengthen inspections of distribution networks, maintain substations, and trim vegetation around power lines to reduce the risk of external disturbances, including those caused by adverse weather conditions or trees coming into contact with electrical infrastructure.
Through these ongoing efforts, PLN aims to enhance the reliability of the electricity system across Papua and West Papua, ensuring that communities receive a safer, more stable, and more reliable power supply.
