Jayapura – The Central Papua Provincial Government, through the Transportation Agency, has prepared two buses for public transportation and institutional activities in the region.
Yunius Tabuni, Head of the Land Division of the Central Papua Provincial Transportation Agency, stated that the two buses will serve trips within Nabire City, Nabire Regency, the capital of Central Papua Province, and to areas outside the city, including the Lagari and Karadiri District boundaries.
He explained that this service is intended for the public, schools, churches, and agencies requiring transportation.
“It is accessible to anyone who needs it for official activities, worship, education, and other general purposes. Everyone can contact us to use it,” Yunius Tabuni said in a written message on Wednesday (June 24, 2026).
He explained that the Central Papua Provincial Transportation Agency does not set a fixed official fare for bus use. The fare is adjusted reasonably, with the principle of not burdening users.
He stated that if the bus is used for official provincial government activities, the fuel and driver costs are fully covered by the Transportation Agency.
If the bus is used for public or institutional purposes, such as churches and schools, users only need to cover the fuel costs and provide a modest compensation to the driver as a token of appreciation for their service and the trip.
“The important thing is that the service continues, and users only have to bear a reasonable cost. It’s enough to cover travel expenses and the driver’s needs. We ensure this doesn’t burden the users,” he said.
Yunius Tabuni stated that bus operations remain under the full control of the Transportation Agency. The agency provides drivers, ensuring safety and travel conditions, and routes and vehicle conditions are provided directly by the agency.
“This is to ensure the service remains safe and quality is guaranteed. This service is expected to help meet the transportation needs of the community in Nabire, given the limited number of official public transportation facilities operating here,” he said.
