Puncak, Central Papua – Personnel from the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2026 provided security for Christian worship services in Puncak Regency, Central Papua, on Monday (June 8, 2026), as part of ongoing efforts to maintain public security and ensure freedom of worship for local communities.
Security operations were focused on Bukit Sion Church and Santa Elizabeth Church, where personnel were deployed to create a safe and comfortable environment for congregants attending religious services.
The presence of security personnel was positively welcomed by worshippers and local residents, who were able to carry out their religious activities peacefully and without disruption. In addition to maintaining security, officers also engaged with church members and community leaders through a human-centered approach aimed at strengthening communication and public trust.
Throughout the activities, the situation around both churches remained safe, orderly, and conducive, with no significant security incidents reported.
The Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2026, Inspector General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, stated that securing places of worship is an important part of the Indonesian National Police’s commitment to protecting the rights of citizens to practice their faith freely and safely.
“Providing security for places of worship is one of our responsibilities to the community. We want to ensure that every citizen can carry out religious activities peacefully and without concern for security disturbances,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2026, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, emphasized that cooperation between security personnel, religious leaders, and local communities plays a vital role in maintaining stability and social harmony throughout Papua.
He noted that community engagement efforts conducted during security operations help strengthen mutual trust and support the creation of a peaceful environment for all residents.
The Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2026 reaffirmed its commitment to continuing preventive and community-oriented security measures across Papua, including the protection of religious activities, in order to maintain a safe, peaceful, and harmonious environment throughout the region.
