Papuan Customary Leader Urges Residents to Maintain Unity and Public Order

Jayapura – Papuan Customary Leader, Yanto Eluay, urged all residents of Papua and Central Papua to maintain public order and security (kamtibmas) to ensure a safe and conducive environment. “Papua is a shared home that must be maintained with a full sense of responsibility, brotherhood, and a spirit of togetherness by all elements of society,” Yanto said in a statement on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

He emphasized that security and order are essential foundations for supporting development, economic activity, education, and social life.

Therefore, the public is urged not to be easily provoked by issues that could divide unity. “Let us prioritize resolving issues through dialogue, deliberation, and a traditional approach that upholds Papuan cultural values,” he said.

Yanto also called on traditional leaders, religious leaders, youth leaders, and the entire community to continue to work together with security forces to create a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere.

According to him, collaboration between the community and authorities is key to maintaining security and stability in Papua. “With a safe and conducive situation, people can carry out their daily activities comfortably and peacefully,” he said.

He hopes that all Papuans will continue to maintain solidarity and a spirit of unity to realize a safe, peaceful, and prosperous Papua.
