Yahukimo – The shooting contact between the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force and the armed criminal group (KKB) Kodap XVI Yahukimo occurred in Samboga Village, Seredala District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan, Wednesday (4/15/2026). The incident took place when routine patrols were carried out to anticipate security disruptions in the area.
The incident began during the day when a joint team consisting of the Cartenz-2026 Peace Operation Task Force with the Yahukimo Police passed through Trans Papua Road. At that time, the joint team received a shot from the direction of the KKB group that hit the tactical vehicle belonging to the personnel. then the cartenz peace task force personnel fired backfire in response to the attack.
The situation heated up again when the armed criminal group again fired shots from two different directions, namely the right and left sides of the road. The joint police team returned the shot again, while from the direction of the forest, a scream was heard indicating the presence of an armed group.
In addition, the joint team of the Cartenz Peace Task Force and the Yahukimo Police also found a roadblock using trees that had hindered access to Samboga Village. And Based on the Team’s investigation, it was detected that one armed KKB member was around the scene.
After the situation subsided, the joint team conducted a search at the crime scene and found a number of evidences, including the following:

The Cartenz Peace Task Force is currently conducting investigations, deepening and measured steps regarding the involvement of criminals from the KKB group who are involved in actions that have the potential to disrupt Kamtibmas and disturb the community.
In that incident, the situation can be immediately controlled by the joint team and there are no casualties from both sides. All personnel remain safe and ready to continue security duties in the area.
Based on the investigation of the Armed Criminal Group Kodap XVI, Yahukimo is suspected of having planned an action to disrupt security in the Dekai area after carrying out the traditional ritual of burning stones on April 11, 2026. The patrol carried out by the officers is a preventive step to anticipate the potential disturbance.

“We prioritize preventive and preemptive measures, and ensure that every action in the field is carried out in accordance with procedures while still prioritizing the safety of civil society,” he explained.
Adding that, the Deputy Public Relations Task Force of Peace Ops Cartenz-2026 AKBP Andria, S.I.K., emphasized that his party continues to ensure that the delivery of information to the public is carried out accurately and does not cause unrest.
“We urge the public to remain calm and not easily affected by information that has not been verified. Trust fully to the apparatus in handling the situation in the field, and together maintain the conductivity of the region,” he said.
