Timika – The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mimika Police which was backed up by the Cartenz-2026 Peace Operation Task Force succeeded in uncovering the murder case of the deceased LN that occurred in one of the hotels in Timika on March 29, 2026.
This disclosure is the result of an intensive investigation and pursuit carried out by joint personnel in order to maintain the security situation and public order in the Mimika area.
The main perpetrator with the initials EH (37) was successfully arrested on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, around 16.13 WIT in the SP 1 area, Timika. In the arrest process, Cartenz Peace Operation personnel also secured four other people, namely EL (27), DBH (50), YH (27), and JK (37) for further investigation.
Based on the results of the investigation, EH is suspected to have played a role as the main perpetrator in the planning of a murder based on revenge motives related to the previous conflict in the Kwamki Lama area in January 2026. The perpetrator is known to be involved in the planning of the action, the provision of transportation facilities, and the procurement of sharp weapons used in the incident.
After the incident, the perpetrator had moved the victim’s body from the original location to Kwamki Narama Street and moved from location to location to avoid being chased by officers, even planned to escape to Nabire area by land before finally being successfully secured.
Head of Public Relations Operation Peace Cartenz 2026, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., when met by the media (18/4) explained that the disclosure of this case is the result of the joint team’s Satreskrim Polri Mimika which was backed up by the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force.
“This disclosure is the result of the intensive work of the officers in conducting an investigation and pursuit of the perpetrators. The joint team of the Cartenz Peace Operation and the Mimika Police Criminal Investigation Unit succeeded in securing the main perpetrator and several other people for the purpose of investigation,” he said.
He also emphasized that currently the three people who were previously secured, namely DBH, YH, and JK, have been sent home. Meanwhile, EH is still undergoing an intensive examination at the Mimika Police Station for further legal proceedings, while EL is still being investigated for his involvement in the alleged murder case in jln. “The main culprit with the initials EH is currently undergoing an intensive examination at the Mimika Police Station. While one other person is still in deep investigation, and the three people who were previously arrested have been sent home after the initial investigation did not show direct involvement,” he explained.
In addition, the authorities also secured a number of evidences suspected of being related to criminal acts, including:
- two machete blades,
- two noken bags,
- one head noken,
- two mobile phone units,
- Identity card,
- ATM card,
- some cash,
- as well as one unit of four-wheeled vehicle.
All of the evidence has been secured for the purpose of investigation.
Head of Cartenz Peace Operations 2026, Inspector General of Police. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H. said that this success is part of the effort to maintain security stability in the Papua region.
“We will continue to guard the law enforcement process professionally until the entire series of case handling is completed in accordance with the applicable provisions,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Operation Peace Cartenz 2026, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum. added that the case development process is still ongoing.
“We are still doing a deepening to reveal the possibility of other parties’ involvement. Every development will be followed up according to the applicable legal procedures,” he said.
