National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) Papua: Armed Criminal Group (KKB) Violence Escalates, 132 People Killed in 2025

JAYAPURA – The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) Papua Representative Office has highlighted the alarming escalation of violence in Papua. The Head of Komnas HAM Papua, Frits Ramandey, revealed shocking data that as of 2025, 132 people have been reported killed due to a series of actions carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

This statement was made by Frits Ramandey in response to the ongoing security situation in Papua. According to him, the trend of violence carried out by KKB shows a significant increase and has claimed many lives in the past year.

In response to the high fatality rate, Frits has urged KKB to immediately stop all forms of terror targeting civilians. Additionally, Komnas HAM Papua demands an end to the destruction of basic service facilities vital to the survival of communities in conflict areas.

This indiscriminate violence has sparked deep concern regarding human rights protection in Papua. The continued loss of life raises urgent public questions about the existence of justice and human rights protection for victims of KKB brutality.

The public questions the position of human rights enforcement for innocent civilians, TNI-Polri personnel who have fallen in the line of duty, and indigenous Papuans who have become targets of violence in their own land. This demand emphasizes the urgency of protecting human life above all conflict interests.
