Yahukimo – Joint personnel of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz together with the Yahukimo Police and Brimob Company 3 Battalion D quickly followed up on the report of the attempted shooting carried out by Unknown Person (OTK) at the Block C Shophouse Complex, Line 1, Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, on Tuesday (10/28/2025) night.
The incident happened around 19.20 WIT, when two HP counter employees, namely Firman (30) and Fikri (20), were working inside Basta Cell. Suddenly there was a loud crash like a stone throw hitting the iron door of the counter. When the victim came out to check, the situation looked normal, but shortly after re-entering, an unknown perpetrator appeared in the corner of the room carrying a long-barreled weapon.
The perpetrator had time to defend the weapon repeatedly and pointed the barrel towards the inside of the counter. Seeing that, Firman’s victim immediately took shelter, while Fikri who was repairing his phone only realized the danger when he heard an explosion of a gun. The perpetrator then fled to the back of the shophouse complex.
Hearing the sound of gunfire, a witness with the initials W, who was about 20 meters from the location saw someone running towards the back of the Block C Shophouse. Not long after, the surrounding community reported the incident to the authorities.
Following up on the community report, the joint personnel of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz together with the Yahukimo Police and Brimob Company 3 immediately headed to the location to conduct an investigation and sweep in the area around the Crime Scene (TKP).
The apparatus also went down to patrol around Dekai City to ensure that the situation was safe and conducive again.

“We will not give space to anyone who tries to disturb the order and safety of the community. The Task Force will continue to increase patrols and strengthen the presence of officers at vulnerable points,” said Brigadier General of Police. Faizal
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Operation Peace Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., urged the public to remain calm and alert to any suspicious activity in the surrounding environment.
“We urge residents to immediately report to the security forces if they see or hear suspicious things. Community participation is very important in maintaining security stability in the Yahukimo region,” he said.
The Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz strongly criticized the actions of parties who tried to disrupt the stability of security and public order in Papua. Violent actions not only disturb the residents, but also hinder the development and peace that is being sought together.
The National Police invites all people to remain calm, not provoked, and fully entrust law enforcement to security forces. With the synergy between the apparatus and the citizens, a safe and peaceful Papua will continue to be maintained.
