“Papua Is No Longer 01 or 02, But All of Us Together”

“Papua Is No Longer 01 or 02, But All of Us Together”

Message of Peace

Praise God, the Repeat Election (PSU) for Papua’s Governor has finally come to an end. Our hearts feel relieved, because the democratic process has been carried through to completion despite all the dynamics along the way. Now, we must sit together in calmness and realize that democracy is not the end of everything, but the beginning of a new journey to shape a better Papua.

Papua is our shared home. From the coasts to the highlands and valleys of Tabi-Saireri, from cities to villages, every Papuan has the right and the responsibility to care for this land. After the PSU, there are no longer “01” or “02.” What remains is all of us Papuans—called to walk hand in hand, to build Papua with sincere hearts and clear minds.

The two candidates who stood in this election—BTM-CK (01) and MARI-YO (02)—are both sons of Papua. They have the heart, the determination, and the longing to serve this land. That means whoever has been entrusted by the people through their votes should not be seen as an opponent, but as a brother called to serve.

Yet there is one important thing we must guard together: to both campaign teams and supporters—please, no more narratives that tear each other down. Let there be no words that divide our unity. Politics is temporary, but Papuan brotherhood lasts forever. If we keep fighting over differences in choice, who loses? We ourselves do.

We must learn from history. Too often, Papua has been wounded not by nature’s wrath, but because we failed to guard our hearts. Yet God has blessed this land with extraordinary beauty—green mountains, blue seas, and people with loving hearts. It would be such a loss if all this is tainted by momentary political ambition.

Therefore, let us open our hearts. Let us face Papua’s future with magnanimity. Let us unite to realize a Papua that is self-reliant, advanced, and prosperous. For our children in the villages, for the next generations—they don’t need stories of division. They need stories of brotherhood, of solidarity, and of how Papuans can rise through peaceful ways.

We believe, with a spirit of true diversity, Papua will shine—a light that not only brightens this land, but also Indonesia as a whole.

Now is the time. Let us walk together, work together—for Papua, the land of peace.
