Hoax by Armed Criminal Group Exposed, Papuan Residents Confirm Siprianus Weya Is Not a Civilian but a KKB Member

Jayapura – Papuan residents have denied claims made by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) alleging that six displaced civilians from Intan Jaya were arrested by security forces in Nabire. The local community stressed that such narratives are nothing more than KKB propaganda aimed at covering up their criminal acts.

In fact, the six individuals arrested by the Damai Cartenz Task Force on Wednesday (Aug 20) in Topo District, Nabire, were confirmed as members of the KKB network. Among them was Siprianus Weya, a member of the faction led by Aibon Kogoya, who served as cameraman recording the shooting of two Mobile Brigade (Brimob) officers at KM 128, Siriwo District, Nabire, on August 13, 2025.

Papuan communities have strongly condemned KKB’s misleading claims. “Papuan people are fed up with the KKB’s actions. They always hide behind the term ‘civilians’ to cover up their crimes. In reality, what they do only spreads fear, threats, and insecurity among the people,” said one community leader, who requested anonymity.

Locals have instead voiced strong support for law enforcement’s firm measures against the KKB. They emphasized that the majority of Papuans desire peace and reject acts of armed terror. “Papuan people hate the KKB, because the victims of their violence are Papuans themselves,” the source added.

Therefore, accusations spread through pro-KKB social media accounts have been declared hoaxes. Those arrested are proven KKB members, not civilians.
