Central Papua – The Provincial Government of Central Papua has officially launched a campaign to distribute 10 million Indonesian national flags as part of the nationwide initiative to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence.
The launch ceremony took place in early August 2025 at the Governor’s Office in Central Papua, attended by local government officials, members of the military and police, students, and the general public. The initiative is in line with a national movement initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs to promote patriotism and unity across the country.
In his remarks, the Acting Governor of Central Papua emphasized that the distribution of flags is a tangible effort to foster national pride and solidarity among citizens.
“The red and white flag is more than just a national symbol—it represents our history, our struggle, and our identity as Indonesians. By raising the flag at homes, offices, and public spaces, we collectively express our love for the nation,” the Governor stated.
The program aims to reach all regencies and districts throughout Central Papua, with the distribution process involving various community groups, local leaders, and civil organizations.
The campaign will run until mid-August, leading up to the Independence Day celebrations on August 17, 2025. The government is also encouraging residents to actively participate by displaying the national flag throughout the month of August.
