Jayapura, Papua – Prominent Christian figure from Papua, Rev. MPA Mauri, S.Th, has called upon the people of Jayapura, the districts, and the entire province of Papua to support and ensure the success of the upcoming Simultaneous Regional Elections (Pilkada) on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
Rev. Mauri emphasized the importance of peaceful elections, urging all communities to work together for a smooth and harmonious electoral process. “For the election to be peaceful, we must all collaborate, whether clergy, citizens, or anyone living on the land of Papua. We must unite to ensure the success of these elections,” he said.
He further urged the people of Papua to go to the polling stations as invited and to actively participate in the elections, emphasizing that voting is a vital part of being a responsible citizen of Indonesia. “Let us contribute to peace through our prayers, and avoid being influenced by others. Instead, let us be guided by God’s word, which will lead us to safety, peace, and a smooth election process,” he added.
The call to action is aimed at encouraging Papuans to actively engage in the democratic process while fostering a spirit of unity and peace ahead of the elections.
