Jayapura – A total of 247 personnel from the Papua Regional Police (Polda) have been deployed to secure the conduct of an open public debate in the context of the Re-Voting (PSU) for the 2024 Papua regional elections. The event, held at the Fourth Floor Auditorium of the Papua Provincial KPU Office in Holtekam Village, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, on Wednesday (July 30, 2025), is directly supervised by security forces to ensure all stages proceed smoothly and safely.
This security operation is part of Operation Mantap Praja Cartenz II-2024, aimed at maintaining a stable and conducive environment throughout the PSU process. The event was led directly by the Head of the Papua Police’s Bin Ops Section, AKBP Mugoni, S.I.K., who was accompanied by key officials such as the Commander of the Mantap Praja Cartenz 2024 Preventive Task Force, Kombes Pol Jan Wynand Imanuel Makatita, S.I.K., as well as officers from the Object Security Division, including AKBP Bahar Tushiba and Kompol R. Ahmad Hari Junianto.
In his remarks, AKBP Mugoni emphasized the importance of maintaining neutrality and professionalism among all personnel during their duties. He reminded that the security measures are part of a democratic process that must be safeguarded with strict responsibility.
“This activity must be carried out professionally, neutrally, and without bias. I remind all personnel not to engage in practical politics, either directly or indirectly,” Mugoni stated.
He also highlighted the importance of understanding the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for security and conducting thorough mapping of potential vulnerabilities. “Be alert to potential conflicts, security disturbances, or provocative actions from certain parties. If there are any dynamics on the ground, report them promptly and through the proper channels,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Commander of the Mantap Praja Cartenz 2024 Preventive Task Force, Kombes Makatita, conveyed that the presence of police officers in securing the PSU process is a reflection of public trust that must be maintained.
“We are here to ensure that the entire PSU process runs safely, orderly, and in accordance with democratic principles. This is an important moment for the people of Papua, and neutrality and professionalism are our top priorities,” he said.
The Papua Police reaffirm their commitment to continuously support the successful, peaceful, democratic, and dignified conduct of the Re-Voting. They are determined to ensure that every stage proceeds in a safe and conducive environment, contributing to the success of the democratic process in Papua.
