Puncak Jaya – The Assistance Team of Operation Peace Cartenz (ODC) 2025 carried out a humanitarian initiative at Al-Kitab School, one of the refuge sites for residents affected by tribal conflict in Puncak Jaya Regency. This social service activity emphasized a humanistic approach as a form of compassion for the impacted communities.
Held on Monday (April 7), the initiative was led by the Head of the Public Relations Task Force of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., accompanied by the Head of the Action Task Force, Police Commissioner Wahyu, S.I.K., M.H. The program aimed to deliver humanitarian aid in the form of basic necessities, health services, food supplies, and vitamins to refugees, especially children and families.
Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo highlighted the importance of employing a humanistic approach as a core principle of Operation Peace Cartenz in Papua. “We are here not only to ensure security but also to heal the social wounds caused by conflicts. These children represent Papua’s future, and their hope must be kept alive despite the challenging circumstances,” he stated.
In addition to providing immediate assistance, the initiative aimed to reduce tensions from ongoing conflicts and encourage disputing parties to prioritize the safety of non-involved civilians. Through this approach, the task force hopes to foster dialogue, raise collective awareness, and restore harmony among the communities.
Heartwarming moments emerged when the task force personnel interacted with refugee children by distributing gifts, playing together, and warmly engaging with them. The smiles and laughter of the children demonstrated the profound impact of empathy amidst adversity.
The Commander of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Police Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., emphasized that the operation is not solely focused on law enforcement but also on building a sense of security grounded in trust and care. “We believe that the humanistic approach is the key to achieving genuine peace. This value guides every step of our operations,” he affirmed.
The social service activities also included the provision of basic necessities, vitamins, and medical services, which received enthusiastic responses from the local community. Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 reaffirmed the role of the state in Papua as not just a guardian of stability but also as a protector, advocate, and partner for its people, striving to create a peaceful, just, and hopeful Papua.
