Jayapura- The Open Plenary Meeting for the Recapitulation of the 2024 Election Vote Counting Results at the Papua Province level is still ongoing and entered its 13th day on Sunday (18/3/2024).
Regarding the Public Order and Security situation during the Plenary, the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Police Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, said that everything was still running safely and under control.
Benny said that until the 13th day there were still several regencies/cities that would still hold plenary sessions.
“Like the data we got from the field, the Papua KPU currently separates Jayapura Regency and Jayapura City,” said Benny.
Benny revealed that for the Papua KPU, the mountains still separate Jayawijaya, Lanny Jaya and Tolikara districts.
Meanwhile, the Central Papua and South Papua KPUs have completed the provincial level plenary and everything is running safely and smoothly.
“The security and social security situation itself is currently still safe and conducive,” he said.
Benny continued, personnel involved in security are still continuing to provide security at the plenary location.
“Of course, to ensure that implementation runs safely and conducively,” he said.
Benny hopes that Regency/City KPUs which have not yet implemented provincial level plenary sessions will do so immediately so that they can then carry out central level plenary sessions according to the schedule determined by the Central KPU.
“We express our highest gratitude and appreciation to all the people in the Land of Papua who have worked together with the TNI/Polri security forces and the Government to create calm during the 2024 Election process or stages,” he said.
