Papua- Joint TNI-Polri officers took firm action against a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua on Sunday (21/1).
It is known that the authorities saw seven KKB members carrying two long-barreled weapons in Baitapa village towards Kumbalagupa Sugapa. Seeing this, the security forces took action by shooting armed KKB members so that gunfire could not be avoided.
This resulted in one member of the KKB in the Intan Jaya region, Yusak Sondegau, being killed by gunfire and currently his funeral is at the Sugapa Community Health Center, Intan Jaya Regency.
Papuan community figure Yonas Alfons Nusy supports the joint TNI-Polri apparatus in taking firm action against the KKB’s criminal actions. Yonas emphasized that the KKB is not a struggle, but rather a criminal act that violates human rights (HAM). According to him, threats, terror, hostage-taking and acts of violence cause fear in society.
“Murder, hostage-taking and burning of government facilities are criminal acts that cannot be justified. These acts have no moral basis or justifiable purpose. For example, the murder of Michelle Kurisi Doga, a Papuan woman,” said Yonas.
Yonas said that KKB not only committed crimes, but also broadcast footage. “The struggle that this group admits has no real results, but is just an unproductive act of rebellion,” he stressed.
Therefore, Yonas invites the Papuan people not to be influenced and provoked by the actions carried out by this criminal group.
“Papuan leaders and community figures play a key role in expressing rejection of the KKB,” he explained.
“They emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation to overcome common threats. “This firm statement from leaders and community figures reflects the determination to create a peaceful, prosperous and empowered Papua,” said Yonas.
Yonas also said that the Papuan people were aware that the existence of the KKB was hampering positive development and development. The chosen KKB actually creates an environment that is not conducive to daily life.
“The vote against the KKB is a reflection of the Papuan people’s determination to achieve a better future,” he said.
