Jayapura – The Cartenz Damai Task Force is currently still investigating the location of the Susi Air pilot’s detention in Nduga Regency, Highlands Papua.
Head of Damai Operations Cartenz 2023 Kombes Pol. Faizal Rahmadani said that his team was still looking for and exploring the location in Nduga Regency, where the Susi Air pilot was allegedly detained.
“The search is continuing not only by the Damai Cartenz Task Force team, but also members of the TNI,” said Kombes Pol. Faizal who claimed to have just returned from Kenyam, the capital of Nduga Regency.
Until now, he said, the team has not been able to confirm the location of pilot Philip who is a New Zealand national who was detained.
It was also revealed that the difficulty in searching was due to the geographical conditions of the area which had to be taken into account, including the presence of a KKB in that area.
Even though the natural conditions were quite difficult in addition to the KKB’s disturbances, he emphasized that this did not dampen the TNI/Polri’s efforts to seek the release of the hostages.
To avoid the security forces, the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya, who has been holding the Susi Air pilot captive since February 7, has often moved places.
“Hopefully we will soon find and release pilot Philip Mark Mehrtens from the hands of the KKB,” said the former Direskrimum Polda Papua.
Apart from arresting Philip Mark Mehrtens, the KKB also set fire to the plane shortly after it landed at the Paro airport, Nduga Regency.
