Jayapura — The Jayapura Police Resort (Polres Jayapura) has intensified its efforts to educate rural public transport drivers in Jayapura Regency, aiming to strengthen traffic discipline and reduce the risk of road accidents.
The initiative was carried out through direct outreach and safety briefings for drivers at several key locations, including terminals and major routes frequently used by public transportation vehicles.
During the activity, officers reminded drivers to comply with traffic regulations, ensure their vehicles meet safety standards, and carry complete documents such as valid driving licenses and vehicle registration papers.
In addition, Polres Jayapura emphasized the importance of prioritizing passenger safety by avoiding reckless driving, refraining from overloading vehicles beyond their capacity, and maintaining responsible behavior on the road.
The Head of the Traffic Unit of Polres Jayapura stated that the program is part of a preventive approach, while also encouraging drivers to develop a stronger culture of discipline on the road.
“We urge all rural public transport drivers to obey traffic rules, keep their documents complete, and always prioritize passenger safety. This is essential to reduce traffic violations and accidents,” he said.
Through this program, Polres Jayapura hopes rural public transport drivers will become role models for road safety and contribute to maintaining a secure, orderly, and smooth traffic situation across Jayapura Regency.
