Lanny Jaya — The Indigenous People’s Institution (Lembaga Masyarakat Adat/LMA) of Lanny Jaya Regency, Papua Pegunungan, has expressed its support for security forces in upholding the law in the region.
Chairman of the LMA Lanny Jaya, Tias Urnom Kogoya Jaya, said in a press statement received in Jayapura on Sunday that the indigenous institution has always cooperated with security forces in Papua Pegunungan to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
“Therefore, we urge the people in Papua Pegunungan Province, especially residents of Lanny Jaya Regency and the Lanny Tribe community, to help keep the situation conducive,” he said.
According to Tias, maintaining security stability is a shared responsibility, especially since Papua Pegunungan comprises eight regencies with diverse social dynamics.
“From the traditional side, we always work together with security forces to ensure safety across the entire Papua Pegunungan region. This cooperation is essential so that the people can live safely, peacefully, and remain focused on development,” he added.
He explained that regarding the arrest of a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB), Dugi Kogoya, by security forces, the LMA believes that the legal process must be carried out according to applicable regulations.
“As a traditional leader and Chairman of the LMA Lanny Jaya, I urge the community to remain calm and not engage in chaos or actions that could harm themselves or others,” he said.
He added that the ongoing legal process against KKB member Dugi Kogoya is a consequence of the criminal acts committed.
“We fully submit this matter to the country’s legal mechanisms, and I will convey to the family not to interfere with the ongoing legal process, but to respect the law as we work to maintain a peaceful situation,” he stated.
For your information, Dugi Kogoya is currently undergoing investigation at the Jayawijaya Police.
