Bengkayang, Central Kalimantan – Anugerah Pesona Indonesia (API) Award 2025 recorded a new history with the presence of more and more regions from the eastern and central regions of Indonesia who also introduced their superior destinations. This year, the Papua and Sulawesi regions officially contributed new tourism nominations, marking the spread of national tourism.
API Advisor, Patrice Rio Capella, in the API 2025 awarding night in Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan, Tuesday, said that the emergence of nominations from various regions is a real proof that the spirit of building tourism is no longer concentrated in certain regions only.
“The nominations from Paniai Regency and Tambrauw Regency (Papua), as well as Kepulauan Selayar Regency, Sinjai Regency, and Mamuju Regency (Sulawesi) is proof of the spread of national tourism spirit,” said Patrice.
He expressed his pride in the involvement of those regions. According to him, the presence of Papua in the API nomination brings a fresh breath from the eastern region of Indonesia, while the contribution of the regions from Sulawesi shows the stronger tourism potential from the central region.
Patrice explained that the API Award 2025 is widely followed by regions from all over Indonesia, namely 38 provinces, 355 regencies, and 65 cities, with nominations spread across various categories such as Tourist Destinations, Tourism Products, Festival Cultural Attractions to Digital Promotions.
According to him, the involvement of this new region not only expands the diversity of promoted destinations, but also illustrates the increasing public awareness of the tourism potential in each region.
“API Award has been proven to arouse public enthusiasm in supporting its regional nominations. The involvement of Papua and Sulawesi is a reflection of the great public trust in local governments in developing tourism,” he added.
With the increasing diversity of participating regions, the API Award 2025 is expected to be a momentum for the entire region of Indonesia to be more active in exploring, developing, and promoting its tourism potential, so that Nusantara tourism can be increasingly known both nationally and internationally.
