Sentani, Papua — Anticipating increased rainfall that could trigger hydrometeorological disasters, the Jayapura Resort Police (Polres Jayapura) have deployed special emergency response personnel across several disaster-prone areas in Jayapura Regency.
Jayapura Police Chief AKBP Fredrickus W.A. Maclarimboen, S.I.K., M.H., stated that this measure is part of a preventive effort to respond to possible floods, landslides, and heavy rainfall caused by extreme weather conditions.
“We have prepared personnel and necessary equipment to ensure a quick response in case of emergency situations,” he said on Thursday (November 6, 2025).
In implementing this preparedness, Polres Jayapura is also coordinating closely with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the local government to strengthen disaster mitigation and response effectiveness.
The police continue to remind residents to remain vigilant, particularly those living in flood-prone and hilly areas.
This initiative reflects Polres Jayapura’s strong commitment to safeguarding public safety and maintaining security and order amid the challenges posed by extreme weather in the Papua region.
