Jayapura, October 7, 2025 — The Chairman of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII) Jayapura City Chapter, Mahfud, has called on all residents of Papua to support the inauguration of the newly elected Governor and Deputy Governor, Matius Fakhiri and Aryoko Rumaropen, while maintaining public order and security across the region ahead of the important event.
Mahfud expressed that the appeal was a form of moral support for the new administration, which is expected to bring positive change to Papua. He emphasized the importance of synergy between the community, security forces, and the government in creating a peaceful and conducive atmosphere.
“I call on all Papuans to support the inauguration of Governor-elect Mr. Matius Fakhiri and Mr. Aryoko Rumaropen. Let us together maintain peace and security, and work hand in hand with the National Police and the Indonesian Armed Forces to support and ensure the success of their administration toward a brighter Papua,” Mahfud stated in his official remarks.
He added that maintaining security stability is a vital foundation for supporting the development programs to be implemented by the new leadership. According to him, public participation will be the key to a successful transition of local governance.
The statement came ahead of the official inauguration of the Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua, scheduled to take place today. The local government, together with security forces, has prepared comprehensive security measures to ensure that the entire ceremony proceeds safely and smoothly.
