Central Government Allocates Additional Rp100 Billion for Papua

JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government has received an additional Rp100 billion in transfer funds from the central government through the Ministry of Finance. The additional funding is expected to strengthen the region’s fiscal capacity to support development and improve public services across Papua.

Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, said the financial support reflects the central government’s strong commitment to accelerating development in Indonesia’s easternmost province.

“We have received information from the Ministry of Finance that Papua has been allocated an additional one hundred billion rupiah in transfer funds. This is an important boost for us to strengthen development in various sectors,” Fatoni said after leading a joint civil servant assembly in Jayapura on Monday (October 6, 2025).

Fatoni emphasized that the funds must be managed efficiently, transparently, and effectively. He urged that all programs funded by the allocation should have a direct impact on improving community welfare.

“The available budget must be used optimally. Focus on priority programs that bring real benefits to the people,” he stressed.

He also reminded government officials to avoid non-essential or excessive expenditures, highlighting the importance of accountable and transparent reporting in every stage of program implementation.

“Avoid unnecessary spending. Use the funds wisely, carry out programs properly, and ensure that all activities are accountable,” Fatoni concluded.
