Human-Centered Policing: Cartenz Peace Operation Builds Closer Ties Through Traditional Market Visit

Paniai, Central Papua – The atmosphere at the traditional market on Enarotali Street, East Paniai District, was different on Saturday morning (September 27, 2025). Personnel of the Cartenz Peace Operation joined the community by greeting women vendors while purchasing local produce. The activity, led by First Inspector (Ipda) Syahrir Mahyudin, S.H., and Police Brigadier (Bripda) Irgi Alamsyah, began at 8:00 a.m. local time.

Beyond simple transactions, warm interactions unfolded at the modest stalls. Smiles and greetings from the vendors highlighted how meaningful small gestures of attention from security personnel can be for the local economy.

Chief of the Cartenz Peace Operation, Police Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., said the initiative was a tangible step to strengthen ties with the community.

“We are here not only to maintain security. By purchasing directly from women vendors, we want to support small-scale businesses while showing that the police are close to the people,” said Brig. Gen. Faizal.

Deputy Chief of the Cartenz Peace Operation, Police Commissioner (Kombes Pol.) Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., underlined the importance of a human-centered approach.

“Simple acts like this can lay the foundation for mutual trust. Women vendors play a vital role in Paniai’s social and economic life. The warmth created today is expected to pave the way toward a peaceful and prosperous Papua,” he stated.

Through this activity, the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to being present within the community—supporting the local economy while ensuring peace and stability in the Land of Cenderawasih.
