Yahukimo, Papua Pegunungan – Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz is conducting an in-depth investigation following the violence that killed five civilians by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Elkius Kobak in Seradala District, Yahukimo Regency. The incident took place in two stages on Sunday (9/2025) to Monday (9/21/2025).
Based on the testimony of the initial witness DA, on Sunday night around 19.00 WIT, two workers were found dead with violent wounds on Jalan Poros Kampung Bingki, Seradala District. Knowing the incident, a number of miners planned to go to Dekai to save themselves, but they canceled due to bad weather.
The next day, Monday around 08.00 WIT, KKB again launched an attack at Camp Kali Kulum. The group used arrows and firearms, causing panic among the miners. In this action, three mining workers again became victims of KKB violence.
Head of Operations Peace Cartenz Brigadier General of Police. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., explained, the Task Force in Yahukimo has received information about the existence of three additional victims from the Armed Criminal Group violence.
“We got information that there are three more bodies that are victims of this armed criminal group,” said Brigadier General Faizal.
However, he emphasized that his party has not been able to confirm the exact number and identity of the victim because he has not managed to reach the crime scene.
“Until now we have not arrived at the crime scene. Yesterday we tried to come, but there was a shooting contact that did not allow us to continue our journey,” he explained.
In addition to the shooting contact, Brigadier General Faizal also said that the evacuation planned today had to be postponed due to the heavy rain that washed down the Yahukimo area since the morning.
“It’s raining heavily in Yahukimo today. Finally it was decided not to continue or not to do the evacuation today,” he said. This condition makes it difficult for the evacuation team to cross the river whose current becomes fast.
Regarding the total victims, Brigadier General Faizal said that the temporary information received was five people, but this still needs further confirmation.
“There are five information we got,” he added.
Brigadier General Faizal added that the data of the victims is still in the process of investigation.

In line with that, Deputy Head of Operation Peace Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., stated that the strengthening of patrols and security had been increased to restore a sense of security and prevent the recurrence of casualties.
Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz also urges the public to remain calm, alert, and immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest security forces. Polri emphasized that the safety of residents is the top priority and the cooperation of all elements of the community is needed in maintaining security stability in Papua.
