Papua – Young Papuans Urged to Safeguard Ancestral Land

Jayapura – The Chair of the Women’s Working Group (Pokja Perempuan) of the Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP), Nerlince Wamuar, SE., M.Pd., has called on the younger generation in Papua to remain steadfast in protecting their ancestral land by listening to traditional leaders, church figures, and indigenous elders.

In her statement, Wamuar emphasized that Papuan children must not be easily influenced by outside forces. “Curly hair, dark skin—that is our identity. We must protect our villages, protect this land. Stop following outsiders. We only listen to our ondoafi (traditional leaders), tribal chiefs, and church pastors. No one else,” she stressed.

She also recalled the first prayer of missionaries Ottow and Geissler, who once ministered in Papua. That prayer, she said, serves as a reminder that Jesus Christ continues to guard and bless the land and its people.

“Let us safeguard this land together. May Jesus protect us, may Jesus watch over us. Amen. Immanuel,” Wamuar concluded.
