Kemala Bhayangkari Foundation Papua Holds Food Safety Training for SPPG Staff

Jayapura – The Kemala Bhayangkari Foundation of Papua organized a one-day food safety training for 34 kitchen staff of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in Gurabesi, Jayapura City.

The training, delivered by representatives from the Jayapura City Health Office, focused on the implementation of food safety standards starting from raw material handling, food processing, serving, to food distribution.

Papua Police Public Relations Chief, Commissioner Cahyo Sukarnito, emphasized the importance of the program in strengthening staff knowledge on food safety principles. “From inspecting raw materials, storing them at the right temperature, food processing based on nutritionist-designed menus, to recording and reporting—every step must comply with the standard,” he said in Jayapura on Saturday.

He further explained that the training also highlighted the necessity of obtaining the Sanitation Hygiene Eligibility Certificate (SLHS), promoting a balanced nutritious diet, and managing kitchen sanitation as well as waste.

Meanwhile, Jelly Vanny Seran from the Jayapura City Health Office stressed the obligation for all staff to use personal protective equipment (PPE), such as masks, head covers, gloves, and designated work clothing.

“PPE is essential to prevent cross-contamination and ensure the safety of food served to beneficiaries,” Jelly said.
